About Me
I am the oldest son of two fantastic parents from the Snake River Valley of Southeastern Idaho. Growing up I was taught the value of hard work, honesty, and an immense respect for my family. Growing up in a rural community outside of Rexburg, Idaho I enjoyed helping on my friend's family farm. My first actual job was milking cows late at night during the school week, and early in the morning on the weekends. We also raised hay, potatoes, and wheat. The biggest lessons learned from working at the dairy and other farms was an understanding that like it or not when it is time to do the work, sleep becomes a luxury. There were nights that we would bail hay for most of the night, then pick it up the next day. Cows were the culmination of these lessons. They don't know that it is a holiday, that I was out late, or that there was a football game at the school. They just know that it is time to get milked and that it gets painful if they don't.
I am the father of four wonderful reasons for continual improvement of our Falcon School District. We have two daughters in D-49 schools. A 4th grader and a 1st, with a four year old daughter and two year old son in training (no we weren't trying for the boy, we were just blessed that way). Their wonderful mother has been willing to spend the last 9 years with me and I continue to be eternally grateful.
I have been employed with Colorado College, Environmental Health and Safety since November 2004 as the Hazardous Materials Manager and currently the Assistant Director for Facilities Service, Environmental, Health and Safety. My role is to ensure a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. We are committed to being good stewards for the institution, and the community. We are tasked with a broad responsibility including hazardous material safety, disaster preparedness, asbestos management, employee and student training, and many regulatory compliance related issues. Prior to Colorado College, we were at Michigan State University for 5 years where I helped to support academic and research laboratories with hazardous and radioactive waste activities.
