And then there were Three
First, I want to thank everyone who made possible the decision of today issued by the El Paso county clerk. As I have said in the past, by the end of July I was ready to hang this whole game up, but it was the support (and chastisement ;-) of so many people that made this come to pass. So I want to say thank you.
For many that may not know what I am talking about, today the County Clerk issued a decision that indicates the recall efforts are short of the signatures necessary to require a recall election. The majority of the signatures that were challenged by myself, Dave Martin, and the recall committee remained with the original decision. Ironically the most interesting items that were identified in the final decision are the decisions that did not receive a final answer.
Because there were fewer signatures than were necessary Mr. Balink chose not to issue a final ruling on the matter regarding the appropriateness of Tammy Harold notarizing the majority of the recall petitions. He did however state that "Ms. Harold’s disqualifying interest does, in my opinion, undermine the integrity of the signature collection process"
In the Spring the Recall committee indicated its desire to control all 5 of the Board seats. With today's failure their efforts will turn to trying to sweep the remaining seats.
Will they be successful? The choice is up to you.
Thanks again,
Kent Clawson
